Despite Market Slump, OBOR Summit and US Trade Agreement Bode Positively for China

Although China’s onshore market performance is not necessarily reflective, last week brought several pieces of good news for China—especially on the international front.
President Xi hosted 29 foreign leaders in Beijing for his much-anticipated One Belt, One Road summit, and the prospect of a US-Sino trade war faded from view upon release of a 10-point trade agreement. The victories of Mr. Moon in South Korea and Mr. Macron in France served as icing on the cake, as both leaders publically support closer ties with China.
