The usually low-profile Wang Huning made a rare public speech at the World Internet Conference, where he stressed the need for better governance and international rules for the Internet in front of industry leaders like Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau met President Xu and Prime Minister Li to discuss a potential bilateral trade agreement, with little results. Finally, China backtracks on environmental pledges to reduce coal usage with winter hard hitting China’s northern cities.
